The South Devon Players, is based in Brixham for auditions, rehearsals and some of our performances. We exist to create local opportunities for Torbay -based people to create high-quality work in theatre, exploring history, culture & classical literature, winning several awards for its work. We tour live shows around Devon (including Brixham) and up to London / Birmingham, & then also stream online via our partner on Roku & Amazon.

What to expect at The South Devon Players Theatre & Film Company

We were founded in 2006 as a not for profit local theatre company to create opportunities for local people to get involved in professional theatre, launch or further careers in the creative industries all through the medium of creating active shows and work followed by audiences across the world.

Our shows specialise in bringing classical literature, Shakespeare and researched history to life in shows that are affordable, friendly and accessible for people of all ages and backgrounds,

We are female/neurodivergent led, and welcome people of all backgrounds and levels of experience- the only requirements being that people involved with us are pleasant, reliable and committed to being involved in professional theatre to be showcased globally.

We are funded by selling handmade jeweley in the Crafty Cwtch cafe on Middle Street, plants in the Sweet Memory shop on Fore Street, and our used stamp appeal with Brixham Library acting as our collection point. Every penny rises goes back into creating excellent theatre and cultural opportunities for and by local people.
