What to expect at The Workroom Brixham
The Workroom is run by tutor Andrew Britton, who teaches sewing for all abilities in small groups – normally no more than four students – so everyone gets proper attention. Alongside absolute-beginner classes there are project courses such as leggings, pyjama bottoms, bucket hats, circle skirts, hoodies and slip dresses, plus corsetry, upcycling, private sessions and sewing retreats.
The weekly Bitch & Stitch social sewing sessions (£10) run on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and Thursday evenings. The studio is equipped with a large cutting table, sewing machines, overlockers, a cover stitch machine, an embroidery machine and a comfortable hand-sewing corner. Access is up a single flight of fairly steep stairs; the nearest parking is the pay-and-display Marina and Harbour car parks.
