What to expect at Finding the Funny Poetry Workshop with Robert Garnham
Robert Garnham has spent more than a decade performing LGBT comedy poetry at fringes and festivals across the UK. He has won slams in London, Edinburgh and Swindon, toured as Hammer and Tongue’s featured artist, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2021 and shortlisted for Spoken Word Artist of the Year at the Saboteur Awards. His collections, including Yay!, are published by Burning Eye, and he writes a humour column for the Herald Express.
He also has a special connection to the town: in 2020 he spent the summer in Brixham learning about the fishing industry, producing the poem sequence Squidbox for Torbay Culture. In this workshop he shares how to find the humour in everyday life and shape it into poems that make an audience laugh. Book through Brixham Heritage Museum.
